Lola Young Reveals She’s In ‘Recovery’ For Drug Addiction Months After Collapsing On Stage
Lola Young is getting real about her personal struggles.
Back in September, the singer shockingly collapsed on stage while performing at the All Things Go Music Festival in New York City. She assured fans she was “okay” shortly after, but cancelled her performance in Washington, D.C. However, Lola later announced she would be stepping away from the spotlight indefinitely.
The musician returned to social media three months later to thank fans for their support. In February, Lola stepped out in public for the first time since her fall to attend the Grammys, where she won Best Pop Solo Performance for Messy. Now, she is opening up about how she is doing months after the incident.

When asked about what happened last year in an interview with The Times of London on Saturday, Lola did not go into too much detail other than to say:
“Um, so yeah, I think I would rather for the sake of my privacy not say too much. What I would say is that recovery is an ongoing process. I’m not the finished article, but I’m doing a hell of a lot better.”
We’re glad to hear that! The One Thing artist then confirmed she’s in “drugs recovery,” adding:
“When you’re in recovery … that doesn’t necessarily need to mean drugs — but me specifically, yes.”
Lola has been open about cocaine addiction through her music, singing on tracks like Not Like That Anymore that she is a “dumb little addict… trying to quit the snowflake.” Speaking to The Times, she said she has been to rehab twice. In fact, she recorded her hit album I’m Only F**king Myself at the end of 2024 after a five-week stay. Lola continued:
“There were a lot of things going on for me personally — I was going through a lot of mental health issues, a lot of battling with addiction.”
Lola did not reveal where she had been over the past few months, but reassured that she “was being looked after.” The interviewer then noted the pop star checked into a “holistic facility” that deals with addiction and mental health following the collapse, and she now attends Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings.
Although Lola is still in recovery, she feels ready to perform again – but in a scaled-back way this time. The Grammy winner explained that part of being in recovery is “being self-aware and knowing when to stop, and knowing when to say no,” adding:
“I am now in a position where I can do things I couldn’t have done before. Doing it slower, more intentionally, but doing it in a way I feel is good for me. … I would like to say that this is an ongoing journey. You have to be kind to yourself. You have to always remember that you are not alone. You are not ever, ever alone.”
An important reminder for everyone. We’re sending so much love to Lola! It’s amazing she’s in a much better place now!
