Ex-Cop On The Most Wanted List For Allegedly Murdering Wife & Molesting Child FINALLY Found & Arrested In China 21 Years After Fleeing!

A man accused of murdering his wife two decades ago has FINALLY been arrested after a globe-trotting operation.

On Thursday, the US Marshals Service announced in a press release that a man named Dan Hiers Jr., who was placed on their 15 Most Wanted in 2005, has been apprehended… but not on American soil — in China! More on that later, but first, let’s address WHY he was wanted.

According to the USMS, Dan was a cop with the Charleston Police Department in South Carolina more than 20 years ago. However, that went by the wayside when he became the subject of a sexual misconduct investigation involving a minor. The USMS revealed Dan was suspended from the police department in 2004 after being accused of the disgusting crime, and on November 24 of that year, he was officially arrested for committing lewd acts on a child under the age of 16.

So horrible.

Dan, a married man at the time, was ultimately released on bond, but was “scheduled to surrender on additional charges” on March 15, 2005, according to the USMS. However, when that day rolled around, he failed to meet his lawyer at the police department. And on the SAME DAY, authorities discovered his wife Ludimila Hiers, 24, dead in her Goose Creek, South Carolina home. But not by natural causes. The USMS reported that “Hiers shot her in the back of the head while she was sleeping.”

Holy s**t!

A warrant was issued for Dan’s arrest, but he had already VANISHED, never to be seen again by US authorities… or so he thought. Because in their announcement, the USMS revealed they tracked him to Shanghai, China and took custody of him! Gadyaces S. Serralta, Director of the US Marshal Service, said:

“Dan Hiers was in a position of public trust, but he betrayed that trust in the worst possible way. Placing him on our 15 Most Wanted list made his capture a priority for this agency.”

Gadyaces revealed that Dan has since been returned to South Carolina in a “significant and rewarding” culmination of their decades-long manhunt:

“We thank our domestic and international partners for their tireless persistence in bringing this fugitive to justice.”

Dan was arrested for an outstanding USMS warrant for allegations of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, a Dorchester County warrant on allegations of criminal sexual conduct with a minor, and a warrant from Goose Creek on allegations of murder. As of now, though, it’s not clear if the now-53-year-old been formally indicted on the charges. You can read the full USMS press release HERE.

What a WILD case. We’re so glad to hear Dan has been arrested and will finally have to answer to the law.

At the time of her death, an obituary described Ludimila as “the most delightful person to be around.” A friend wrote:

“I cannot say that I have ever met someone as beautiful both on the inside and out as Mila Hiers. My heart bleeds with despair that I won’t ever see her or talk to her anymore.”

Justice for Ludimila!
