Corey Feldman Speaks Out After Being Left Out Of Rob Reiner Oscars Tribute

Corey Feldman is speaking out after being left out of Rob Reiner’s Oscars tribute.

Earlier this month, the legendary director and his wife Michele Reiner were honored during the 98th Academy Awards In Memoriam tribute. The beloved couple were highlighted in a special segment specifically dedicated to them and presented by their longtime friend Billy Crystal. The tear-jerking segment concluded with several actors from many of Rob’s most famous roles walking out on stage hand in hand — Demi MooreMeg RyanAnnette Bening, Michael McKean, Mandy Patinkin, Kathy Bates, and more… There was even a mini Stand By Me reunion with Jerry O’Connell, Wil Wheaton, Kiefer Sutherland, and John Cusack.

However, Corey was nowhere to be seen! And we now know he was not too happy about being left out!

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly at the 40th anniversary screening of Stand By Me on Friday, the 54-year-old discussed the Oscars tribute:

“I think Jerry and Wil did what had to be done. It was a fleeting moment, so I don’t feel like I missed much at all. I personally was probably maybe a little bothered by the fact that nobody got to speak or do or say anything from their own heart. Although they did a wonderful job, I would’ve liked to have heard from Wil and Jerry and a few other people up there.”

He noted “it is what it is” and praised the Academy for honoring “the great memory of Rob” at all — but went on to express his own disappointment in not being invited:

“Personally, it felt a little bit like a family reunion I wasn’t invited to, but we’re not going to use this time to go into my feeling about that.”

The Dancing with the Stars alum continued:

“Instead I just want to say that I’m with the rest of us, we’re all very destroyed that things went down the way they did, losing Rob when we all thought he’d be joining us at some point for this tour and it’s a tragedy.”

He added:

“We all would’ve loved to be able to say goodbye in our own ways. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. The best way we can say goodbye is honoring him and his work and his film through these tours that we’re doing and these interviews and getting people to take the moment and time to acknowledge the history of his work and art that he created, and hopefully going out there to celebrate him one last time on a big screen where it deserves to be seen.”

What a great way to spin a tragedy in Rob and Michele’s deaths and an awkward moment in Corey’s Oscars snub into something positive!
