American Idol & The Voice Alum Arrested In Los Angeles — What Happened?
A singer who competed on both American Idol and The Voice has been arrested in California.
According to TMZ, Dimitrius Graham was booked in El Lay on trespassing charges. But what happened? Well, according to a shocking video going viral on social media, you can see Dimitrius on a metro train being handcuffed by several cops as he shouts about what’s going on. In the clip, he explains that he’s “trying to go upstairs” to buy a “TAP card,” AKA a ticket for the train.
He said his phone died, so when police asked him to show a ticket, he wasn’t able to — which resulted in his arrest and trespassing charge. A big ordeal for a $1.75 card!

According to the Los Angeles Police Department‘s side of things, they claim Dimitrius was acting erratically and that’s why they sent in multiple officers to detain him. They also say he only said he was going to go buy a ticket once he was already in police custody.
That’s when he posted an update video. On Instagram, the Idol finalist said he was held in jail for 24 hours before being released. He also said he felt he was “racially profiled” by the police, and stands by the fact he had a ticket on his dead phone. Not to mention, he claims to have lost a veneer and fractured his wrist. Ouch!
The LAPD claims otherwise, though. They said they took a use of force report after the incident because Dimitrius said he was in pain. They said a supervisor found no wrongdoing, however.
At the end of his video, Dimitrius thanked fans for sticking up for him and sharing his video. He said he understands why the cops went after him because they “wouldn’t be so mad” if they got proper breaks and were paid well.
The singer also reminded his followers in the caption to know their rights in situations like these:
“This happened to me… so it can definitely happen to you. Under the American flag, we all have rights. Don’t ever forget that. When you leave the house, move with clear intentions. Protect yourself. Don’t be a follower — be aware. And if you ever have an altercation with police, stay calm, stay respectful… but don’t be afraid to ask for badge numbers. That’s your right. Being young doesn’t mean being powerless. Stand on your rights. Stand on who you are.”

Wild!
You have probably heard Dimitrius’ polarizing singing voice on season 17 of American Idol where he made it into the top 10 finalists. He also performed on The Voice for the 2025 season, where he competed under Michael Bublé‘s guidance.
