Jenelle Evans Claps Back At Getting Called ‘The Villain’ Amid Custody Dispute — Insists She’s ‘Doing Everything’ She Can For Son Jace
Jenelle Evans refuses to let anyone call her “the villain” amid the latest drama in her family.
News broke earlier this month that her 16-year-old son, Jace Evans, entered a mental health facility in North Carolina following a scary incident. According to reports, cops were called to Barbara Evans‘ home, where the teenager has been living since the summer while Jenelle is in Vegas with her two younger kids, over a “troubled teen disturbance” on February 22. Jace allegedly pulled out a gun during a fight with his grandma, put it to his head, and threatened to kill both of them. Fortunately, the police arrived before anyone got physically hurt.

While Jace has been getting help, Barbara filed for emergency custody of him without Jenelle’s knowledge. However, a judge denied her motion. A temporary custody hearing is set for next week, and Barbara and Jace’s father, Andrew Lewis, is expected to attend. The grandmother has also claimed she has been cut off from the teen while he has been in the mental health facility. Barbara allegedly can’t speak or see him, which has been concerning to her because she believes he is struggling without any communication.
Jenelle now feels she is getting painted in a negative light amid the family drama, and she is not here for it. She took to TikTok on Saturday to fire back, saying:
“I shouldn’t even be getting on here to say anything, but I feel like I have to. I feel like at this moment it is imperative for my family to have their privacy. It’s been very hard for my family to have their privacy because I have other family on the other side of the country selling stories to the media.”
The Teen Mom alum recognized that she is getting portrayed as “the villain” or that people think she is not taking care of Jace during this troubling time. However, she insisted it couldn’t be further from the truth:
“I’m such an easy target, [but] in actuality, behind the scenes, I am doing everything that I can for my child. I am doing what’s in the best interests for him and that’s none of your business to know. Even though there’s a bunch of rumors saying, ‘You’re not doing nothing. You don’t care. Your cross country.’ — first of all, no one knows where I’m at at all times. Let’s get that out there.”
Jenelle stressed that she does care for her children, including Jace:
“One thing I will do is put my whole life on pause for my kids, especially if something is going on. If you’re wondering where my podcast is, it’s on pause, and it’s on pause for a good, legit reason. I will say [that] every decision I make as a mother is for a reason — and it’s for a good reason.”
For now, the former reality star said she won’t get into detail about what is going on and asked for privacy during this time:
“So, just know maybe one day we can share this story and it’ll be a redemption story and a positive one but, at the moment, it’s not the time for that. So with all due respect, including my family, please, just back off a little bit, please? Let us breathe.”
Jenelle even shared that she is taking a step back from social media at the moment:
“A lot of people are, like, ‘Why are you acting so happy?’ In actuality, I’m not going to sit here and just cry on TikTok all the time but I have my days [where] I’ve been crying. I’ve been crying for days, for weeks, on and off, honestly, about a bunch of different situations. I haven’t been posting as much and it’s really hard for me to post at the moment because I’m just focusing so much on my children that it’s not the time and place to be online.”
Concluding the video, Jenelle insisted she is “not the villain in this, and you guys, eventually, will see that.” Hmm. Watch (below):

That same day, Jenelle posted a new pic of Jace to TikTok, and it appears he is out of the facility right now. He is seen looking out the window and playing on an iPad while aboard a plane. It’s unknown where they are traveling to at this time. See the photos (below):
