Trailer Tuesday: The Social Reckoning
More than 15 years after “The Social Network” became a defining film of the digital age, Aaron Sorkin is returning to the world of Facebook with “The Social Reckoning,” a gripping new drama inspired by the real-life events behind the explosive ‘Facebook Files’ investigation.
The newly released teaser trailer offers a first look at Jeremy Strong stepping into the role of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, while Mikey Madison stars as whistleblower Frances Haugen and Jeremy Allen White portrays Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz.
The film follows Haugen’s decision to expose internal company documents that revealed troubling information about Facebook’s impact on society, setting off one of the most significant corporate whistleblower stories in recent history.
Written and directed by Academy Award winner Aaron Sorkin, The Social Reckoning serves as a companion piece to 2010’s The Social Network, shifting the focus from Facebook’s creation to the consequences of its global influence. The trailer teases congressional hearings, high-stakes journalism, internal company conflicts, and the growing debate surrounding misinformation, social media, and corporate accountability.
The impressive ensemble cast also includes Bill Burr, Wunmi Mosaku, Betty Gilpin, and Billy Magnussen, adding even more star power to one of the year’s most anticipated dramas.
The original Social Network wasn’t just a movie; it became a cultural touchstone. With Aaron Sorkin returning to tell the next chapter of Facebook’s story and a powerhouse cast led by Jeremy Strong, Mikey Madison, and Jeremy Allen White, The Social Reckoning looks poised to spark conversations far beyond the theater long after the credits roll.
The Social Reckoning arrives exclusively in theaters on October 9, 2026.
